Report PurposeGuide private-label sellers (operations/marketing/product) and engineers (hardware/software/reliability) to improve existing products and define next-generation products

1. Executive Summary

Both products sit at 4.3 / 4.4 on the platform, but taken apart, 62 1-2★ reviews show they fail in completely different places.

Soundcore: 6 of 23 negative reviews (26%) point at the same thing — Battery & charging. “disappointed in super short battery life”

TAGRY: 10 of 39 negative reviews (26%) point at the same thing — Connectivity & app. “hard to connect with bluetooth.”

The platform score hides this. At 4.3 / 4.4 vs 4.3 / 4.4, one should spend its budget on Battery, the other on Connectivity — spend it the wrong way and the next generation stays at 4.3 / 4.4.

Soundcore complaint concentration
6/23 point at "Battery"
26%
TAGRY complaint concentration
10/39 point at "Connectivity"
1. Soundcore's complaints concentrate on "Battery" (6 reviews, 26%), while TAGRY concentrates on "Connectivity" (10 reviews, 26%)

"Battery" shows up in only 6 of TAGRY's complaints (15%), and "Connectivity" in only 4 of Soundcore's (17%). The two products fail at different links — the improvement budget should not go to the same place.

2. "Battery" is a grumble-level problem, not a return driver

25 of Soundcore's 88 3★ reviews mention "Battery" (keyword tagging, auxiliary) — the product works, users are just not satisfied. It drags word of mouth but may not directly cause 1-2★; give return-level problems priority.

3. Second pain point: "Other" at 26% of Soundcore's complaints

6 complaints point at "Other"; together with the top cause "Battery" (26%) they cover 52% of low scores.

Soundcore Battery + Other 12 3.9 → 4.01 8.7% → 4.2%
TAGRY Connectivity + Sound 17 3.58 → 3.73 15.8% → 8.9%
Method: these negative reviews are removed and the rest of the sample is re-averaged (equivalent to re-scoring them at the mean of the remaining sample). This is the theoretical upper bound if the problem is fully solved, not a promise; actual improvement depends on fix rate and new-review velocity. Negative rates use this sample as the base.
Data boundaries (read first, or the numbers above will be misread)
1. The gap between the platform 4.35 rating and the recalculated 3.74 comes from the sampling strategy — the sample over-samples negative and recent reviews, so its complaint density is higher than the platform overall; all percentages use this sample as the base and do not represent the platform-wide negative rate.
2. 93% of the sample falls in the most recent six months (recent-first scraping), so no time-trend conclusions are drawn.
3. 1-2★ reviews are grouped by physical cause via a rule engine (keyword rules, traceable to individual review IDs); keyword tagging of 3★ reviews is auxiliary only and excluded from conclusions.

Typical User Quote (Product A):

i really wanted to like these, because of the three soundcore headphones/earbuds i’ve owned, these sound, fit, and look the best. but they are also the glitchiest, and with the worst battery. the audio from my phone or laptop will randomly cut out and connect to these earbuds, even when they’re disconnected and sitting in the charger across the room. it’s so annoying and inconvenient. i stopped bringing them to work, because they would take over my laptop audio during zoom calls, without me even touching them. i’ve dried disconnect and reconnecting them, and updating the soundcore app. nothing fixes the issue. meanwhile, my older soundcore headphones have no problems. i would return them for a refund but i already threw out the box. the battery is also very weak when you use the active noise canceling—but anc is the whole selling point for these buds. i get about 2 hours per charge, and the case doesn’t hold as many charges as my old pair. so i have to constantly be stressing about whether or not i charged my case (along with everything else) before leaving the house. it’s a shame, because the anc works really well. my last gripe is that anker/soundcore seems to be leaning heavily into forced ai. big turn-off.

Typical User Quote (Product A):

battery life is a joke have had these for a week and they don’t last more than 2 hours.

Typical User Quote (Product B):

these work great at first then the right side won't work anymore it has trouble charging. i have made sure the area is cleaned but still won't work

Typical User Quote (Product B):

they worked fine for about a month or two, but then one of them quit charging. the case no longer recognizes it. they are decent? cheap ear buds, while they work.

The reason breakdown uses return mentions with a stated reason as its denominator, which differs from the return-mention count on the left (one mention may carry several reasons). Estimated monthly loss uses the unrounded return ratio.
