Report PurposeGuide private-label sellers (operations/marketing/product) and engineers (hardware/software/reliability) to improve existing products and define next-generation products

1. Executive Summary

Both products sit at 4.4 / 4.5 on the platform, but taken apart, 120 1-2★ reviews show they fail in completely different places.

Auxmir: 31 of 75 negative reviews (41%) point at the same thing — Other issues. “no alumbra bien se descarga muy rápido”

G Keni: 19 of 45 negative reviews (42%) point at the same thing — Premature failure. “stopped working completely after 3 months”

The platform score hides this. At 4.4 / 4.5 vs 4.4 / 4.5, one should spend its budget on Other, the other on Failure — spend it the wrong way and the next generation stays at 4.4 / 4.5.

31/75 point at "Other"

G Keni complaint concentration
19/45 point at "Failure"
1. Auxmir's complaints concentrate on "Other" (31 reviews, 41%), while G Keni concentrates on "Failure" (19 reviews, 42%)

"Other" shows up in only 12 of G Keni's complaints (27%), and "Failure" in only 18 of Auxmir's (24%). The two products fail at different links — the improvement budget should not go to the same place.

2. "Failure" shows up in both 1-2★ and 3★

5 of G Keni's 26 3★ reviews mention "Failure" (keyword tagging, auxiliary) — it is both a grumble and a low-score driver; fixing it helps rating and word of mouth.

3. The expectation gap: 3 complaints are angry not at the product itself but at "what was promised vs what arrived"

False-advertising / not-as-described wording appears in 1-2★ reviews (Auxmir 1, G Keni 2). This is the cheapest fix of all — revising the copy alone can move the needle. Typical wording: "this lamp works as advertised, but i didn't realize how small it was! not suitable for the purpose i had in mind."

G Keni Failure + Other 31 3.75 → 4.24 24.5% → 7.6%
Method: these negative reviews are removed and the rest of the sample is re-averaged (equivalent to re-scoring them at the mean of the remaining sample). This is the theoretical upper bound if the problem is fully solved, not a promise; actual improvement depends on fix rate and new-review velocity. Negative rates use this sample as the base.
Data boundaries (read first, or the numbers above will be misread)
1. The gap between the platform 4.45 rating and the recalculated 3.31 comes from the sampling strategy — the sample over-samples negative and recent reviews, so its complaint density is higher than the platform overall; all percentages use this sample as the base and do not represent the platform-wide negative rate.
2. Sample review window 2024-08-03 to 2026-10-17; time distribution is indicative only.
3. 1-2★ reviews are grouped by physical cause via a rule engine (keyword rules, traceable to individual review IDs); keyword tagging of 3★ reviews is auxiliary only and excluded from conclusions.

Typical User Quote (Product A):

we really liked this nightlight when we received it. the battery life is phenomenal &, the remote made it easy to adjust the light as needed between feeding or diaper changes. however we only used it on and off for two weeks before the light quit working.

Typical User Quote (Product A):

not a quality light compared to others i have purchased. only worked for about three weeks. returned it.

Typical User Quote (Product B):

worked for about a month before randomly just shutting off. don’t waste your time or money.

Typical User Quote (Product B):

i waited to write my review until i had a problem with this light. it's been working for 8 months, so i can't say it's that bad, but i've had other slasting longer. * first, what i realized was annoying with this thing is the fact that it is a touch light- you tap the top center and it turns on or off. i have accidentally turned it off many times, and without a handle on top, it makes it pretty annoying after awhile. *second- it slowly stops being as bright as when you first buy it. so, i say it lasted 8 months, but it stopped working correctly before now. i know it dima when you hold your finger on the top, but the brightness definitely doesn't increase to it once was. now that the charger really doesn't work anymore (stoped charging, turns off as soon as you turn it on, even when plugged in) it's trash.

• Consider adding a low-battery indicator or auto-shutoff feature to prevent unexpected power loss during nighttime use.

▸ Threats

• High return rates due to early product failure could damage brand reputation and increase costs.
• Competitors offering more reliable charging ports and longer-lasting batteries could capture market share.
• Negative reviews about durability and touch controls may deter potential buyers despite positive aspects.
• Inconsistent product quality between batches, as noted by users who bought multiple units, poses a risk to customer trust.
• Misleading product images and descriptions regarding color temperature and size could lead to customer dissatisfaction and returns.
• The presence of cheaper alternatives with similar features may pressure pricing and reduce perceived value.

Note: Actual return rate is typically higher than review mention rate (many users return without leaving reviews); the above is a conservative lower bound. The reason breakdown uses return mentions with a stated reason as its denominator, which differs from the return-mention count on the left (one mention may carry several reasons). Estimated monthly loss uses the unrounded return ratio.
