1. Executive Summary

Both products sit at 4.6 on the platform, but taken apart, 198 1-2★ reviews show they fail at the same thing.

B07CMS5Q6N: 15 of 41 negative reviews (37%) point at the same thing — Other issues. “brand new, the right click doesn’t work.”

Razer: 116 of 157 negative reviews (74%) point at the same thing — Other issues. “also yeah the mouse is alright”

The platform score completely hides this shared weakness — it is a category-level problem, and whoever fixes it first pulls ahead.

116/157 point at "Other"
1. Both products fail at "Other" (B07CMS5Q6N 37% / Razer 74%)

This is a category-level weakness: competitors are equally exposed here. Whoever fixes it first wins the review structure.

2. "Other" does not appear in Razer's 3★ reviews

No 3★ reviews available for auxiliary comparison; this judgment rests on the 1-2★ structure alone.

3. Second pain point: "Failure" at 22% of B07CMS5Q6N's complaints

9 complaints point at "Failure"; together with the top cause "Other" (37%) they cover 59% of low scores.

ProductProblems removedReviews affectedSample averageNegative rate
B07CMS5Q6N Other + Failure 24 3.5 → 3.79 19.9% → 8.3%
Razer Other + Build 138 0.82 → 2.96 84% → 10.2%
Method: these negative reviews are removed and the rest of the sample is re-averaged (equivalent to re-scoring them at the mean of the remaining sample). This is the theoretical upper bound if the problem is fully solved, not a promise; actual improvement depends on fix rate and new-review velocity. Negative rates use this sample as the base.
Data boundaries (read first, or the numbers above will be misread)
1. The gap between the platform 4.6 rating and the recalculated 2.23 comes from the sampling strategy — the sample over-samples negative and recent reviews, so its complaint density is higher than the platform overall; all percentages use this sample as the base and do not represent the platform-wide negative rate.
2. 81% of the sample falls in the most recent six months (recent-first scraping), so no time-trend conclusions are drawn.
3. 1-2★ reviews are grouped by physical cause via a rule engine (keyword rules, traceable to individual review IDs); keyword tagging of 3★ reviews is auxiliary only and excluded from conclusions.

Typical User Quote (Product A):

not good this mouse glides not good at all. it’ll sometimes randomly disconnect. it’s extremely small.

Typical User Quote (Product A):

the mouse performed very well up until recently. about a year and a half of heavy use and the mouse is having micro connectivity issues. small stutters and dropped items when dragging now makes the mouse almost useless. i used this mouse for all around pc use, gaming, design work, web browsing, etc. and for the most part was quite happy with it. up until a few days ago and now i am having stutters and lack of button inputs. it is not a battery issue, and can only assume it is a connectivity issue. i have move the receiver close to and in direct los to the mouse so that is not an issue either. the mouse is simply failing mechanically. i feel a year and a half of use is pretty dismal and logitech needs to do better. it is quite disappointing, specially since i have now gone back to using my old mx518 that is like 20+ years old and is still going strong. before now the mouse performed well and i was perfectly happy with it. it is small and light weight, so depending on your preference this is a good or negative aspect. for me, i would prefer something a bit larger but it is a perfectly functional. in fact, i was pleasantly surprised to have the responsiveness i was getting from a wireless mouse. for someone that uses their pc less, they might get more life out of this mouse, but i cannot recommend it as is.

Typical User Quote (Product B):

i always used the death adder but heard this one was better. gave it a shot and it didn’t last very long. everytime i tap the mouse to move it around while aiming it pings in game the mouse thinks the mouse wheel button is being pressed somehow. i can lift the mouse and place it down on the mat and it pings. tossed it out and hooked up the death adder again. i have all razer headset mic pad mouse keyboards etc so im a fan but but not this mouse.

Typical User Quote (Product B):

the scroll wheel often gets stuck and counts as a scroll wheel click instead of just scrolling. extremely irritating.

8.2 SWOT — Market-Level

▸ Strengths

• Logitech G305 offers strong wireless performance with reliable connectivity and low latency, praised by many users.
• The G305 has excellent battery life using a single AA battery, avoiding internal battery degradation concerns.
• Razer Basilisk V3 is highly regarded for its comfortable ergonomic design, ideal for long gaming or work sessions.
• The Basilisk V3 features customizable RGB lighting and 11 programmable buttons, offering extensive personalization.
• Both products benefit from strong brand recognition and established ecosystems (Logitech G Hub, Razer Synapse).
• The G305 is lightweight and compact, making it portable and suitable for travel or smaller hands.

▸ Weaknesses

• The Logitech G305 is frequently reported as too small for adult hands, causing accidental side button presses and discomfort.
• Durability is a major concern for the G305, with many users experiencing switch failures (double-clicking, unresponsive buttons) within 1-2 years.
• The G305 lacks Bluetooth connectivity, requiring a USB dongle that can be inconvenient for laptops with limited ports.
• The Razer Basilisk V3 has reported issues with the middle click and scroll wheel, including unintended clicks and erratic scrolling.
• Some Basilisk V3 users experience random disconnections or failure to be detected by the PC, requiring replugging.
• Razer's international warranty limitations have frustrated customers who received imported units with no local support.

▸ Opportunities

• Introduce a larger version of the G305 to accommodate users with bigger hands, addressing the most common complaint.
• Improve switch durability by using optical or higher-quality mechanical switches to extend product lifespan and reduce returns.
• Add Bluetooth connectivity alongside the 2.4GHz dongle to increase compatibility with modern laptops and ultrabooks.
• Enhance the Basilisk V3's scroll wheel mechanism to prevent unintended middle clicks and improve scrolling consistency.
• Offer a USB-C receiver or charging option for the G305 to align with current connectivity standards.
• Expand warranty coverage and streamline customer support for international purchases to build trust and loyalty.

▸ Threats

• Increasing competition from budget wireless gaming mice brands offering similar features at lower prices.
• Rising consumer expectations for durable switches and longer product lifespans may lead to negative reviews and brand damage.
• Growing preference for Bluetooth and USB-C connectivity could make dongle-only mice less attractive over time.
• Quality control issues in both products may drive customers to alternative brands with better reliability reputations.
• Rapid technological advancements in mouse sensors and wireless protocols could make current models obsolete quickly.
• Negative word-of-mouth from durability complaints may reduce repeat purchases and harm brand loyalty.

Note: Actual return rate is typically higher than review mention rate (many users return without leaving reviews); the above is a conservative lower bound. The reason breakdown uses return mentions with a stated reason as its denominator, which differs from the return-mention count on the left (one mention may carry several reasons). Estimated monthly loss uses the unrounded return ratio.
